From
the Montgrí massif, dividing line with the Alt Empordà,
the Lower Ter plain can be seen; defined from the south by the Begur
mountains, at the foot of which lies Pals, and inland by the spurs
of the Gavarres massif.

General
view of the Baix Ter plain, with the town of Torroella and
the massif of the Mongrí at the back. At the front
is Pals |
It’s
mainly an agricultural plain (a bit strange if we take into account
the proximity of important urbanized areas and the impact of touristic
areas such as Pals and l’Estartit) containing an important
number of lands dedicated to irrigation crops in the Baix Empordà.
Closer to the sea, a few swamps of exceptional landscape, natural,
environmental and ecological value can be found. We must emphasize
the Ter Vell, Frare Ramón’s’ pond, the Pletera
and Basses d’en Coll.
